Business Visa (Entrepreneur) Subclass 188E

This five-year temporary visa is for Business Entrepreneurs who intend to establish business operations in Australia.

This visa is the first stage of getting a Permanent Residence visa in Australia through the Business Innovation & Investment (Residence) Subclass 888 visa.

You will need to spend at least 3 years in Australia on your Entrepreneur Visa, and be sponsored by a state or territory government to qualify for a permanent subclass 888 visa.

The Business Entrepreneur stream

The Main Criteria:

  • Age less than 55 years (unless your complying entrepreneur activity is of exceptional economic benefit to the nominating state or territory)
  • Evidence of competent English at the time of invitation for visa
  • Undertake, or propose to undertake, a complying entrepreneur activity in Australia
  • A complying entrepreneur activity must relate to an innovative idea that will lead to:
    - The commercialization of a product or service in Australia, or 
    - The development of an enterprise or business in Australia
  • An agreement demonstrating of paying at least 10% funds to the entrepreneurial entity within 12 months of activity undertaken in Australia
  • At least 30% of interest in entrepreneurial entity at the time of entering into the agreement
  • Maintain an ongoing relationship with the nominating state or territory government
Nomination by a State/territory government

Nomination is one of the most important requirements - the visa applicant must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency (for example, Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia, Australian Capital Territory, etc.)
